Our big sovereignty challenge is in the Arctic. That’s why we’ve developed a Northern Agenda that will:

• Develop northern resources
• Take action to protect our sovereignty
• Give northerners more local control
• Deal with climate change in the north
• Protect the northern environment

We’re strengthening our security by rebuilding the Canadian Forces and pursuing foreign policies that protect our interests and project our values.  Our mission in Afghanistan rests on those interests and values; so do our international aid programs and our re-engagement with the Americas.
